Partnerships with Veterans in Film and Television Vamp Up Opportunities for Veterans

By SARAH SERRANO - This year has been a non-stop growth spurt for the 501(c)3 non-profit, Veterans in Film and Television (“VFT”). There are a ton of exciting developments in the works thanks to some very interested parties who want to work with VFT. The receptiveness of these initiatives is proof that 2015 is one of the most pivotal times for VFT, with no signs of slowing down.... (read more)

Happy Accidents

By LYNELLE WHITE - I get the question a lot. How did you go from being an Air Force pilot to being a television writer? It seems like a huge leap to people. Even my own mother, looks at me with a quizzical eye since I made the career switch. I think she thinks it’s some sort of mid-life crisis. But just how did I become a staff writer on ARMY WIVES? Well, to be honest, it was one of those “happy accidents.”... (read more)

The Making of Fort Bliss

By MIKE HARDY - Thinking back on being the associate producer of the independent film Fort Bliss, my conclusion remains this – we veterans have a distinct advantage in filmmaking. All we need is the commander’s intent – be that from our director, producer, line producer, key grip or whomever – the basic requisite skills for our jobs and the chance to prove ourselves and we vets will always take the hill. We will always accomplish the mission.... (read more)

A SEAL's Method of Combating Stress

By MIKAL VEGA - I have always been team-oriented. I firmly believe that forming the close-knit team I have today is the reason I have been propelled so rapidly towards the manifestation of my dreams. Your Best Bet is a Vet!

By BRIAN MCLAUGHLIN -Vets have been indispensable resources in American society for many decades, going back at least to World War II, and this latest surge of transitioning combat troops are already reinforcing the value of a military background in civilian settings. With this in mind, I present these positive points about military folks as workplace assets.... (read more)
