I have been able to connect to my brothers and sisters in uniform here in LA at a much higher level. It's truly amazing how many veterans are here and in the industry!!!
I have had a lot more opportunities for auditions that show my skill set I learned from the military. I have also met some great mentors through VFT that are guiding me in this challenging career. VFT is full of amazing opportunities!
I worked a full day on a Union job on "General Hospital." This was on Veteran's day and we had another chance to serve our country. The show asked for Veterans to be on the show and VFT was our Ambassador and talent agent.
I am an Assistant Editor/Production Assistant for Imaginary Forces through a hiring event sponsored by the AICP (Association of Independent & Commercial Producers). I was one of 15 veterans selected to interview with 8 production companies with only 5 minutes to interview with each and I was offered the job on the spot. After over a year of hardships and struggles I owe this opportunity to VFT!
and Kyle Hausmann-Stokes, I was given a VoiceOver opportunity as a BBC announcer for his film "S A M". This was my profound and professional beginning. Not only was it the beginning of a fervent love of acting, but it was a chance to use my military background and expertise. I have met many other veterans on set to share their knowledge. Thank you for letting me be a part of YOUR vision.
I have been able to network with a cross section of people in the industry. The material I write usually has a military slant and I expect that my VFT connections will be very valuable in the future. Additionally, VFT has allowed me to get my name out as a flight instructor (my day job).
I am an Associate Producer for an amazing production company (Imaginary Forces) through a hiring event sponsored by the AICP (Association of Independent & Commercial Producers). I was one of 15 veterans selected to interview with 8 production companies and I was offered the job on the spot with only 5 minutes to speak and a resume to hand over. VFT created the opportunity and I am forever grateful! #VFTisAWESOME
I landed my first acting gig with Bakers Man Productions for a Southern California Edison's corporate communications PSA. The production crew and the SCE folks were wonderful to work with. It was a humbling experience but I am most proud of the fact that all five (5) cast are Veterans, 100% VFTers, and were booked via www.vftla.org.
I booked a gig doing stunts on the CBS television show "Person of Interest". Member Jody Hart reached out from LA (I am based in NYC) for his friend, stunt coordinator Peewee Piemente, who was looking to hire vets.
I am now a member of the Cinematographers Guild Local 600. I worked 5 years to achieve this goal and VFT helped me get there. Thru VFT member Michael Broderick I was able to get work on union film that helped me get the days required to join the union. I’ve met a ton of talented fellow vets through VFT and been hired by many to photograph their films, commercials, PSA, etc.
